Nana Reckless Announces She’s Dropping A New Tape January 2024
Meet Nana Reckless, a boundary-defying female artist whose roots traverse geographical landscapes. While she asserts, “I’m not really from anywhere,” her present is woven into the vibrant tapestry of Atlanta, while Florida holds the key to what she calls home. A Leo by the stars, Nana Reckless has been crafting her musical journey for seven years. In this blog post, we’ll unravel the essence of an artist whose identity is as fluid as her music, grounded in the places she’s been and the soundscapes she’s explored.
MONEY MASON: “How did you create your artist name?” NANA RECKLESS: “I came up with the name Nana Reckless because my nickname when I was little was “Nana” (pronounced Nah-Nah. NOT nae-nae or Nana like the white grandmas) and at the time I was tryna come up with a second name I was listening to a lot of Rico Recklezz at the time. Growing up my mom always told me that I had a reckless mouth, I was I was always getting tickets for reckless driving, and when I was in school a lot of my teachers would always put reckless behavior on my report cards, so it just fit.“ |
Nana Reckless’s journey into the realm of music is intertwined with a familial symphony of creativity. Growing up in a household where music echoed through the halls, it wasn’t until her senior year of high school that she took the plunge into creating her own tunes. The catalyst? Freestyling sessions with friends at the table, a ritual that sparked the flame of her artistic expression. However, it was in the aftermath of her graduation that Nana Reckless birthed her first real song—an assertive diss track aimed squarely at her ex-boyfriend. This defiant leap into songwriting marked the beginning of her musical odyssey, where personal experiences became lyrical narratives and emotions transformed into melodies.
MONEY MASON: Can you share a bit about your creative process? How do you typically approach writing, composing music, and lyrics? NANA RECKLESS: “ I go to the liquor store. Get me a bottle of tequila. and start spittin heat on the mic. 😂 But really. I just think of random bars, sometimes i think of bars throughout the day and i’ll put them in my notes. I try to start my songs off with a wild bar and just rhyme it with something else. I get disrespectful in my songs but it’s lowkey funny. Pretty much everything I rap about has happened on some random shit and decide to make a bar about it. Often times something will happen and my friends will be like “Don’t give Nana no ammo for the studio” bc I will def make a bar about it 😂😂 “
MONEY MASON: How do you stay motivated and inspired during moments when creativity feels elusive? Are there any strategies you employ to overcome creative blocks? NANA RECKLESS: I don’t get much writers block bc there is ALWAYS something to rap about. But sometimes I may get stuck when I don’t know what to rhyme with something so I just go on rhymezone.com and look up the word or phrase I wanna rhyme. I got that hoe in my favorites 😂😂 |

MASON MASON: How important is it for you to connect with your audience on an emotional level through your music? What impact do you hope to have on your listeners? NANA RECKLESS: ”I think it’s important because I love the people who support me. I’m not fake boujie or stuck up. I want all the alt black girls to look up to me and feel comfortable with themselves. I wanna be like the cool big sister that makes fire music. I’m a renaissance woman so I want people to be like “damn. what doesn’t she do??” “ MASON MONEY: Whats next for you? NANA RECKLESS: I plan on dropping a tape by January 2024. If still deciding on a name for it but the cover is fye. |
