Ronin’s Realm Proves Himself As A Promising Leader In Modern Instrumentals & Sound
Trenton Talley AKA Ronin’s Realm, originally from Maryland, is a Leo who has been crafting intricate and unique instrumentals for about four years. He is known as a video game/film composer and music producer. The spark that ignited it all? A nostalgic blend of diverse influences, catalyzed by the pandemic-induced pause, lead him to venture into the realm of instrumentals and melodies during the lockdown. Ronin is not only a leader amongst his peers, he is also a visionary not afraid to push the musical threshold. Within this article we will gain a deeper understanding of who Ronin is, what role music plays in his life and more.
MONEY MASON: Can you share a bit about your creative process? How do you typically approach writing, composing music, and lyrics? Trenton: When I write orchestral or electronic music (for film/games), I put my phone on DND & sit at my full-size keyboard to sketch out ideas. I start with the chord progression based on the mood required for the setting & work from there, trying to keep the creative momentum going. For beats/production I have a much more free approach — I have a huge collection of retro games & anime/action movie dvds, so I usually will either play games while I’m making beats or put a good movie on, its all about drawing inspiration. With hip-hop production especially, if I don’t like the melody loop I write initially, I won’t even finish it. The loop HAS to be beautiful on its own. MONEY MASON: How do you stay motivated and inspired during moments when creativity feels elusive? Are there any strategies you employ to overcome creative blocks? Ronin’s Realm: The famous russian composer Tchaikovsky has a quote that I really like, “Inspiration is a guest that does not willingly visit the lazy.” I think that quote sums up my approach. Even if I don’t feel particularly inspired, the simple act of sitting down & starting something ends up leading me to become inspired during the writing session. I don’t think professionals can afford to wait for inspiration, you have to start something regardless. MONEY MASON: What challenges have you faced as a musical artist, and how have you overcome them? Are there any lessons you’ve learned along the way? Trenton Talley: One of my biggest challenges early on was feeling like my skills weren’t progressing fast enough. I had to re-orient my thinking in favor of patience, knowing that improvement comes in increments & that I have to be gentle with myself |

For Ronin’s Realm, music is a bridge, forging connections that transcend the boundaries of intent and individual experiences.

MONEY MASON: Are there any collaborations or dream projects you hope to pursue in the future? Is there an artist or producer you’d love to work with? Ronin’s Realm: I can’t wait for the opportunity to have my music performed by a live orchestra — whether for a concert performance or a recording session for a game/film soundtrack. I’m prepared for it so its only a matter of time. As far as producers, I’d love to work with Dolan Beatz, Zaytoven or Pharrell. For artists, I’d love to branch out & work with Ariana Grande or Pinkpatheress. MONEY MASON: Is there a particular song or project that holds special significance to you? Can you share the story behind it? Ronin’s Realm: My first ever EP I produced for XLOVCLO. I haven’t worked with her in forever, but I remember most of the instrumentals I made for her in that time were during a period of snow days, & some of the percussion on that project I made by recording myself tapping different objects in my house. That was the first project I produced where people reached out to me telling me they connected with it on an emotional level. My production skills were still immature back then, but I’m grateful for that experience early on. MONEY MASON: Whats next for you? Trenton Talley: At the time of answering these questions I’m working on writing music for a sci-fi animated series. Contractually I can’t say any more, but I’m really excited for that! |
